Great post ! thank you for these great news :-)

I would like to share with those Moodle 1.9.x users that i have made some patches to the 1.9 Moodle version over the last past year or so, which enables most of what was shown in the video for Moodle 2.

You can find all those patches in the Tracker. (tracker.moodle.org) and you can apply one or several of them to suite your needs.

like: set you own theme, add comments, add blocks, link post to course...

Here is the list:
(as copied from the Tracker)

MDL-21673: link personal blog post to current course (my profile blog post)

MDL-21206: enable comments to posts in personal / sitewide blogs

MDL-19865: auto-complete tags (interests) in Blog's "new post" edit page

MDL-18091: direct link to user's blog from participants list (block)

MDL-21253: force other users to see my personal block layout in my personal blog page

MDL-21602: share world wide open posts from the user's profile blog with any social network

MDL-18096: force others to see personal user's theme preference onto his/er personal/site blog

Enjoy :-)

Hi there, interesting post.

I'm looking into something similar at the moment. As well as teaching ICT, I'm a part time web developing geek so I'm even considering developing a bespoke application (but I'd prefer not to!)

Any updates on your progress?

I had done this before and forgot the steps. Thanks for posting the video and such elegant steps. Just another example of the very accurate and high volume help you can find from other moodle teachers. I found this tip using google. I can solve almost any moodle question with a good google search and 10 minutes. Love it!

I was waiting for someone to publish a review of this book. I've been wondering about this book for a while now. Sounds like I'm like you, up to ch4 I could deal with after that is new ground. My other fear was that with 2.0 coming out, will this book be destined to gather dust once we upgrade to 2.0?
Now that I know in more detail what is in the book I'll more than likely get a copy. Think of it as the first step toward artistic theme enlightenment!
